UFC 118 Predictions

UFC 118 – Edgar VS. Penn II takes place this Saturday, August 28th, in “Bahstan”.  In the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first event in the historic city, a rematch for the UFC Lightweight title will be contested between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn.  The number one contender for this title will also be determined by Kenny Florian versus Gray Maynard.  The co-main event (arguably considered the main draw in public eyes) will feature a “boxing versus MMA” bout between respective former champions James Toney and Randy Couture.

In customary fashion, my friend Mike Hammersmith will also be giving his best bets for this weekend’s event.  Before you place your bets, make sure to “line shop” by checking out the UFC 118 odds across several sports books, in addition to looking over the MMAMoneyLine Betting Guide and UFC 118 Pros’ Picks.

UFC 117 Predictions

UFC 117 – Silva VS. Sonnen takes place tonight, August 7th in Oakland, California.  The main event is one of the more intriguing Middleweight championship bouts in quite some time.  UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be looking to continue his reign over the 185 lb. division against world-class wrestler Chael Sonnen.  Sonnen’s unrelenting (and extremely entertaining) trash talk has turned this fight into must-see TV.  Also appearing on the UFC 117 card is a number one contender fight between former Welterweight title challengers Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves.

Without further adieu, here are myself and Mike Hammersmith‘s best bets for tonight’s UFC 117 card.  Make sure to check out the Pros’ Picks as well!  Enjoy the fights and best of luck with your bets.

UFC On Versus 2 – Jones VS. Matyusheno takes place Sunday, August 1st in San Diego.  The main event will feature Jon Jones’ toughest test of his career as he faces grizzled Belarussian veteran Vladimir Matyushenko.  Also appearing on this card is a pivotal Middleweight fight between Yushin Okami and Mark Munoz.

Without further adieu, here are myself and Mike Hammersmith‘s best bets for tonight’s UFC On Versus card.  Make sure to check out the Pros Picks as well!

UFC 116 Predictions

UFC 116 – Goliath VS. Goliath takes place this Saturday, July 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada…and boy am I excited.  I will go on record saying if this card still had Wanderlei Silva on it and had another name fight (i.e. Rampage Jackson VS. Forrest Griffin II or something to that effect) it would probably smash the UFC record for PPV buys.  Its safe to say Brock Lesnar has taken Chuck Liddell‘s spot as the biggest draw on the UFC roster.

UFC 116′s main event will be a Heavyweight unification title bout between UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and UFC interim Heavyweight champion Shane Carwin.  The timing of this bout couldn’t be better:  with Fedor Emelianenko‘s loss last week, this fight will likely establish the new #1 Heavyweight in the world.

Although the rest of the card is relatively low on “names”, it is relatively high on talent.  The Chris Lytle/Matt Brown, George Sotiropoulos/Kurt Pellegrino and Goran Reljic/Kendall Grove fights all have a high probability to be very exciting.

I do believe there to be reasonable betting value in UFC 116.  Along with MMAMoneyLine contributor Mike Hammersmith, we will give to you the best bets for UFC 116 and the reasoning behind them.  In addition, make sure to check out MMAMoneyLine’s UFC 116 Pros’ Picks to get a feel for who some very knowledgeable MMA bloggers are going with.  Without further ado…lets get things rolling.

The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale Predictions

The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale takes place this Saturday, June 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The new main draw for the capstone event of The Ultimate Fighter 11 reality show will be finalists Court McGee and Kris McCray vying for a UFC contract.  The old main event, now assumed the co-main event will be a Light Heavyweight scrap between Matt Hamill and Keith Jardine.  Along with these four fighters, TUF 11 participants Jamie Yager, Rich Attonito, Kyle Noke and several others will join the likes of veterans Chris Leben, Aaron Simpson and Spencer Fisher to round out the card.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t see much betting value in this card.  There are so many variables with TUF fights that I generally either bet very small amounts or stay away completely.  My friend Mike Hammersmith is passing on this card completely, and I can’t really blame him.  I personally only feel good about one bet on this card, which I will go into later.  For now, check out MMAMoneyLine’s The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale Pros’ Picks and the current odds for research purposes.

Strikeforce – Los Angeles Predictions

Strikeforce – Los Angeles takes place June 16th in, you guessed it, Los Angeles.  Forgive the less than stellar poster…I couldn’t find one for this event for some reason so I had to make one to put there.  The main event will match up two former UFC fighters and top contenders Renato “Babalu” Sobral and “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler.  Allegedly, the winner of this fight will get a title shot in their respective weight classes.  Also appearing on the Strikeforce – LA card are Marius Zaromskis, the male version of Cyborg Santos, Trevor Prangley, KJ Noons and Tim Kennedy.

As always, Mike Hammersmith, a friend and freelance MMA writer for sites like MMAMafia, will be giving MMAMoneyLine viewers another viewpoint along with additional analysis and recommendations. Here are myself and Mike’s top plays for tomorrow’s Strikeforce – Los Angeles card.  To check out Mike’s picks for the full card, check out his writeup at MMAMafia or MMAMoneyLine’s Strikeforce – Los Angeles Pros’ Picks.

UFC 115 Predictions

UFC 115 – Liddell VS Franklin takes place this Saturday in Vancouver.  It should be an electric day of sports programming with USA/England on during the day and UFC 115 at night.  This Saturday’s main event pits former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell against former UFC Middleweight champion Rich Franklin.  As we all know, this was supposed to be the third installment of Liddell/Ortiz, but Tito went down with an injury.

Despite the heat this card has been getting, I think it has a lot of potential.  The Condit/MacDonald, Griffin/Dunham, Danzig/Wiman and Kampmann/Thiago fights should all be exciting and competitive.  The two heavyweight bouts on the main card will also satiate your thirst for a good ol’ slugfest.

As always, Mike Hammersmith, a friend and freelance MMA writer for sites like MMAMafia, will be giving MMAMoneyLine viewers another viewpoint along with additional analysis and recommendations. Here are myself and Mike’s top plays for this weekend’s UFC 115 card (and there are A LOT to choose from!).  To check out Mike’s picks for the full card, check out his writeup at MMAMafia or MMAMoneyLine’s UFC 115 – Liddell VS Franklin Pros’ Picks.

UFC 114 Predictions

UFC 114 – Rampage VS. Evans
takes place this Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The main event will be the long awaited epic grudge match between former UFC Light Heavyweight champions and TUF coaches Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.  The winner will get the next shot at the 205 lb. belt.  Also appearing on the card are Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Michael Bisping, Todd Duffee and Diego Sanchez.

As always, Mike Hammersmith, a friend and freelance MMA writer for sites like MMAMafia, will be giving MMAMoneyLine viewers another viewpoint along with additional analysis and recommendations.  Here are myself and Mike’s top plays for this weekend’s UFC 114 card. UFC 112 Predictions

“Invincible” pretty much sums it up.  This weekend’s UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi showcases three of the most dominant champions in UFC history.  Both Anderson Silva and BJ Penn will be dusting off the ol’ belts and putting ‘em up for grabs against contenders Demian Maia and Franklie Edgar.  In addition, former UFC Welterweight king Matt Hughes will be looking to make it 2-0 against the first family of BJJ when he takes on Renzo Gracie in his UFC debut.

As always, these picks are the opinion of one man. Follow my betting advice with discretion and only wager as much as you feel comfortable losing. I will only be writing predictions and betting analysis for those bouts in which I believe have betting value. If you want more information on the card in its entirety, check out MMAMoneyLine’s “Pros’ Picks” for UFC 112. Without further adieu, here are MMAMoneyLine’s official picks and betting analysis for UFC 112 – Invincible.

UFC Fight Night 21 Predictions

UFC Fight Night 21 – Florian VS. Gomi takes place tonight in North Carolina.  The main event features the UFC debut on an MMA legend, as Takanori Gomi takes on former UFC Lightweight title contender Kenny Florian.  That Lightweight fight could very well determine who gets the next shot at BJ Penn.  The co-main event will feature TUF winner Roy Nelson against BJJ ace and the tallest UFC Heavyweight Stefan Struve.

There isn’t a ton of value on this card, both main events are pretty lopsided.  Judging by the Pros’ Picks, only two fights on this card are remotely competitive.  I tend to agree in large part, but I do have an upset or two in mind.

As always, these picks are the opinion of one man. Follow my betting advice with discretion and only wager as much as you feel comfortable losing. I will only be writing predictions and betting analysis for those bouts in which I believe have betting value. If you want more information on the card in its entirety, check out MMAMoneyLine’s “Pros’ Picks” for UFC Fight Night 21. UFC 111 Predictions

UFC 111 – St. Pierre VS. Hardy takes place this Saturday, March 27 in the Garden State.  For those of you who have suffered through the UFC’s recent title fight drought (except for you BJ, thanks!), UFC 111 gives us not one but TWO belt-worthy contests.

The main event features seemingly unstoppable UFC Welterweight champion George “Rush” St. Pierre squaring off against sledgehammer handed Dan “Outlaw” Hardy.  The co-main event is an interim Heavyweight title bout between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.  Due to Thiago Alves’ last minute health issues, Jon Fitch will now be facing Ben Saunders.

As always, these picks are the opinion of one man.  Follow my betting advice with discretion and only wager as much as you feel comfortable losing.  I will only be writing predictions and betting analysis for those bouts in which I believe have betting value.  If you want more information on the card in its entirety, check out MMAMoneyLine’s “Pros’ Picks” for UFC 111.  Without further adieu, here are MMAMoneyLine’s official picks and betting analysis for UFC 111 – St. Pierre VS. UFC On Versus 1 Predictions

The first live UFC event broadcasted on Versus takes place Sunday, March 21st in Broomfield, Colorado.  UFC On Versus 1 features a Light Heavyweight main event pitting Brandon Vera against Jon Jones.  In the co-main event, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace Gabriel Gonzaga takes on Brazilian punch you in the face ace Junior dos Santos.

As always, I will only cover which fights have betting value.  UFC On Versus 1 gives us MMA bettors a range of interesting options.  If you have reviewed MMAMoneyLine’s Pros’ Picks for UFC On Versus 1, you already know that this card is a bit lopsided.  7 out of 11 fights are clean sweeps (100% for one fighter).  On the other hand, 3 out of the 4 fights that aren’t clean sweeps are practically coin flips.  Here is where MMAMoneyLine sees the value in UFC On Versus 1:  Vera VS. Jones

UFC 110 Predictions

UFC 110 – Nogueira VS. Velasquez takes place this Saturday, February 21st in sunny Sydney, Australia.  In the UFC’s maiden voyage to the lonely continent, former UFC and PRIDE Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will take on young gun Cain Velasquez.  The co-main event will showcase Wanderlei Silva’s first foray into the Middleweight division under the Zuffa banner as he takes on former TUF winner and coach Michael Bisping.

UFC 110 is interesting from a sports betting perspective because it’s marked by a feeling of “win or you’re out”.  Several fighters on this card are in serious slumps, and guys like Stephan Bonnar, Keith Jardine, Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Filipovic sorely need a victory.  This sort of desperation should absolutely factor into your betting strategy, as there is rarely something more dangerous than a man with his back against a wall.

As per the format of MMAMoneyLine’s predictions, I will only cover the fights that have betting value.  Depending on which way you look at it, UFC 110 could either be chock full of solid betting opportunities or riddled with potential wagering disasters.  I happen to be the former.  Here are MMAMoneyLine’s betting recommendations for UFC 110.

UFC 109 Predictions

UFC 109 – Relentless is going down this Saturday, February 6th in Las Vegas.  The main event pits one UFC Hall of Famer against another as former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion Randy Couture takes on former UFC Heavyweight and PRIDE Grand Prix champion Mark Coleman.  In addition, the next contender for the UFC Middleweight belt will be decided as Nate Marquardt squares off against Chael Sonnen.

From a betting perspective, this is the UFC first card in a while to have 5 fights hovering around the -400/+300 mark.  With that being said, there are a few strong betting opportunities to look for this weekend.  As per the future format of MMAMoneyLine’s predictions, I will only cover the fights that have betting value.  Here are MMAMoneyLine’s betting recommendations for UFC 109.

Strikeforce – Miami Predictions

Strikeforce – Miami takes place this Saturday, January 30th in…well you don’t need me to tell you where it’s at now do you?  Two belts will be on the line this weekend, as Nick Diaz takes on DREAM’s Marius Zaromskis for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight belt and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos defends her Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight belt against Marloes Coenen.  Strikeforce – Miami will also mark the Strikeforce debut for pro wrestling star Bobby Lashley and NFL standout Herschel Walker.  Should be an interesting night of fights (and entertainment).

As per the future format of MMAMoneyLine’s predictions, I will only cover the fights that have betting value.  This card in particular has a few live dogs to discuss.  Without further adeiu, here are my betting recommendations and fight analysis for Strikeforce – Miami.

UFC Fight Night 20 Predictions

UFC Fight Night 20 Poster

UFC Fight Night 20 – Maynard VS. Diaz takes place this Monday, January 11 in Fairfax, Virginia.  The main event features a Lightweight tilt when top contender Gray Maynard takes on the always dangerous Nate Diaz.  Also in action is the TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah and TUF 8 king Efrain Escudero.

Unlike this weekend’s WEC event, UFC Fight Night 20 has much fewer solid betting opportunities.  However, there are still some fight lines that warrant a real hard look.  As per the future format of MMAMoneyLine’s predictions, I will only cover the fights that have betting value.  You don’t need me to tell you that a -500 favorite is going to beat a can.  I will post my official picks and wagers at the bottom of the post.  Here is MMAMoneyLine’s official analysis and betting recommendations for UFC Fight Night 20.

WEC 46 Predictions

WEC 46 Poster

WEC 46 – Varner VS. Henderson takes place this Sunday, January 10th in Sacramento, CA.  The main event features a WEC Lightweight title unification bout between champion Jamie Varner and interim champ Ben Henderson.  Former WEC Featherweight champions Urijah Faber and Mike Brown are also looking to make their way back up the ladder for a future fight with Jose Aldo.

WEC 46 has some very lucrative wagering opportunities…perhaps more than any recent fight card.  As per the future format of MMAMoneyLine’s predictions, I will only cover the fights that have betting value.  You don’t need me to tell you that a -500 favorite is going to beat a can.  I will post my official picks and wagers at the bottom of the post.  Here is MMAMoneyLine’s official analysis and betting recommendations for WEC 46.
